The Inaugural Boikanyo Gala Dinner May 09

This proved to be a very successful evening and was tons of fun.  Chris Forrest started the night off with a wonderful comedy routine and then Gavin Sharpells took over and provided the entertainment for the night. The band Smile kept us rocking with toe tapping music and thanks to the generosity of you our wonderful donors and supporters, we raised over R350,000.00 enough to save the lives of 7 children. This evening touched so many people and I for one will never forget the special people who made it happen.  "We rely on you"

Boikanyo Medical Suppliers Lunch Aug 09

On the 27th of August this year we had our first Medical Supplier Lunch, which we held at the Boikanyo Offices in Parktown.  We held this function to inform the medical suppliers and their sales reps what The Boikanyo Foundation is working to achieve and also how the Boikanyo Foundation impacts on their businesses.

This event was held as a “meet and greet” lunch and was well attended by the Medical companies that supply specifically the Cardiothoracic Ward at the Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital.  A presentation was given and then a wonderful lunch was enjoyed by all who attended. We would like to give special thanks to Medtronic who very kindly donated Boikanyo R18,113.46 of medical consumables to be used on Boikanyo patients; this will go a long way to helping our little patients who are in desperate need of Heart Surgery."We rely on you".

Team Boikanyo and the 94.7 Cycle Challenge 2009

Team Boikanyo took on the 94.7 Cycle Challenge and after lots off hard work, sweat, ice on cramping legs and even a few tears the team completed the race in 5 hours.  They wore their Ride 4Hearts with pride. if you would like to buy a cycle shirt and ride 4Hearts and help save the life of a child please contact our Foundation Manager for more information, we would really love to have 200 cyclists riding in the Boikanyo shirts at the Argus next year. Only you can make that possible "We rely on you".

Transnet National Ports Authority

The staff at Transnet National Ports Authority visited the children on the Boikanyo ward on the 1st of December, this was a very special and somewhat emotional event which was completed with the amazing and generous presentation of a cheque for R100,000.00, which will make a huge difference in the lives of the Boikanyo children.  With this money we will be able to do two more life saving open heart surgeries. What an amazing thought, to realise that this could be the first of many more healthy Christmas's for two children, thanks to the generosity of Transnet National Ports Authority.  A special thanks to Shadi for making this possible.

Merry Christmas from Boikanyo

A Christmas party was held on behalf of The Boikanyo Foundation for the children and adult patients in ward 466 and the ICU at the Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital on the 18 December 2009.
The children and their parents and not forgetting the adult patients on the cardio thoracic ward enjoyed a fully catered party.
Father Christmas dropped in for a visit and each child was overwhelmed with a present, a goodie box filled with surprises, a Christmas stocking, a Zakumi soft toy (Official Mascot toy for the 2010 Soccer World Cup – sponsored by ABI) and a gift and a goodie bag filled with sweets from Ebony and Ivory.
The children weren’t the only ones to be spoilt on the day. The parents of the children each received a food hamper and a set of towels. Furthermore, the adult patients also received a food hamper and the nursing staff was treated to chocolate gifts.

Thanks must go to Edenvale Ladies Circle and the Toy Run, ABI, Ebony and Ivory, KFC, Parties and Kraft’s, East Rand Mall, and a number of individual donors who stepped up to the plate with cash donations and donations in kind.  Thank you for taking the time to make some very special memories for some very special children.
